Hello everybody! i will comment about what i think of the Chilean health system.

In general, i think that the Chilean health system has many deficiencies. First, because not in all localities there is a presence of hospitals or clinics, therefore, the people who have the least economic resources are the most affected. Also, the conditions of some health centers are not the ideal. Some buildings are very ruined or even, there is not enough equipment available for all patients. Moreover, in many cases, there is a lack of professionals to serve those who need it.

Another of the complexities of the Chilean health system is that, due to what has been said above, sometimes it is necessary to go to private clinics to receive dignified care. But, not all of us have access to that quality of care. In addition, it is very common that, when requesting an hour of care in the public health systems, they schedule one for a long time later. It can be weeks, months or even years, regardless of the severity of the disease to be treated.

In most cases, according to my personal experience, I have to turn to Santiago when I have a moderately serious health problem. This is because in Melipilla, the commune in which I reside, the public health system is not the best to the middle or seriuos treatments.

  1. I understand the situation and the truth sucks, my best friend was waiting three years to be operated on in the public system and when they called her, they told her that she should buy things for the operation. definitely the public health system is almost a mockery for those who need it.

  2. What a shame that we are all aware that the health system is not good. It clearly means that it is being handled horribly.
Hopefully Melipilla can have a quality hospital or health center as soon as possible so that you don't always have to go to Santiago :(

  3. Hi! It's unfortunate what you're saying, but it's a reality.

I live in San Felipe. Near my town there is a commune called Putaendo that has a psychiatric center. The state of that place is sad: It is destroyed, ugly and gray. Worst of all, it is the only "public" psychiatric center in the "Valle de Aconcagua". The others are private, that is, you have to pay a lot of money...

  4. Hi Vicho! You are right, the health system is very poor. In the end, those of us who do not have high incomes must endure insufficient service.

  5. Hi Vicente, I share your opinion and I highlight something important that you said.

In the infrastructure of the hospital centers you can see what the health system is like and the hospital conditions that the medical center has, usually in the public health services are not the best conditions.

It is a pity that be done the difference in something very important for all the people: Receive a decent health system.

  8. Hi Vicho.
You talked about the lack of hospitals in some parts of the country, and it reminded me that there is a sector of Santiago (colina and others communes), where the construction of an hospital has been delayed due to building licenses, as if the health of the people in this sector did not metter. By the way, all the rich communes of Santiago have their own private clinic.

  9. it's outrageous that people can't go to a decent medical center. but that they can't go to a medical center as such. that exceeds the limits.
